Few private clubs in Lombardy carry quite the same old-world weight as Barlassina Country Club. Founded in the 1950s and designed by John Harris, the English architect responsible for a number of respected layouts across continental Europe, the course occupies the rolling Brianza countryside north of Milan — a landscape of gentle hills, mixed woodland, and the kind of unhurried affluence that has long made this corridor between Milan and Lake Como a favored retreat for the city's professional classes.
Harris's design work tends toward the classical and understated: measured rather than theatrical, asking for intelligent shot-making and course management over raw power. Barlassina fits that mold, rewarding players who think carefully about position and approach rather than simply reaching for the driver. The parkland setting provides natural definition throughout the round, with tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy without feeling punishing.
