Few clubs in Canada carry the institutional weight of Lambton Golf and Country Club. Founded in 1902 on the banks of the Humber River in what was then the western fringe of Toronto, Lambton is one of the country's oldest private clubs and holds a secure place in Canadian golf history. The course was shaped by the rugged river valley topography — elevation changes, mature hardwood forests, and the natural drama of the Humber corridor give it a character that is unmistakably rooted in its land rather than imposed upon it.
Lambton has long been associated with the early development of professional golf in Canada. George Cumming, one of the founding figures of the game in this country, served as the club's professional for decades and was central to establishing Canadian golf's organizational backbone. That legacy gives the club a gravity that goes well beyond its membership roster.
Today Lambton sits within the city proper, yet the ravine setting creates a genuine sense of removal from the surrounding urban fabric. For members, it offers the rare combination of deep history and a layout that continues to demand real shot-making.
