Few golf clubs on the south coast of England carry quite the history and character of Parkstone Golf Club. Founded in 1910, the course sits on heathland terrain typical of the Dorset/Hampshire border country — sandy soil, heather, pine, and birch forming the kind of natural golfing landscape that the British Isles does better than anywhere. The course was shaped with input from the great Willie Park Jr., one of the founding figures of golf course architecture, and later refined over the decades into the respected heathland test it is today.
Parkstone sits within the broader Poole and Bournemouth conurbation, a stretch of coastline renowned for its mild climate, making year-round golf genuinely viable. The club has long enjoyed a strong regional reputation, attracting competitive county golf alongside its active membership life. The views across Poole Harbour and the Purbeck Hills that appear from parts of the course are among the most quietly spectacular backdrops in English club golf.
What distinguishes Parkstone is the quality beneath the surface — precise iron play and a deft short game are rewarded far more than raw power, which suits the intimate, rolling character of the land it occupies.
