Few golf clubs in Cheshire carry the quiet prestige of Prestbury. Founded in the late 19th century and set in the affluent Cheshire countryside just outside Macclesfield, the club has long been one of the county's most respected private members' institutions — the kind of place where history is felt in the fabric of the clubhouse as much as in the turf underfoot.
The course occupies undulating parkland on the edge of the Cheshire Plain, with the dramatic backdrop of the Peak District visible to the east. That proximity to the moors gives the layout a character that shifts with the seasons — open and breezy in summer, exposed and demanding when autumn rolls in off the hills. Tree-lined fairways, firm turf, and subtle green complexes reward local knowledge and a patient game.
Macclesfield itself sits on the fringe of the Peak District National Park, a market town with strong industrial heritage and a tight-knit sporting culture. Prestbury village, one of England's wealthiest communities, lends the club its name and its distinctly unhurried, traditional atmosphere.
