Crystal Tree Golf and Country Club has been one of the Chicago Southland's most respected private clubs since it opened in 1988, built on a former tree farm whose legacy is visible in the mature hardwoods and evergreens that line virtually every fairway. The course was designed by Ken Killian, one of the Chicago area's most prolific architects, whose work here rewards strategic thinking over raw power — tree-lined corridors demand accuracy, and several holes turn around water that comes into play at decisive moments.
The club sits in Orland Park, a prosperous southwestern suburb roughly 25 miles from downtown Chicago, in the flat but quietly scenic landscape of the Illinois prairie. Autumn here is genuinely spectacular, when the old-growth trees the property is named for turn the course into something closer to a woodland painting.
For its members, Crystal Tree functions as a full-service country club, and the golf course reflects that ambition — maintained to a high standard, serious enough to challenge single-digit handicappers while remaining genuinely enjoyable for the everyday member.
