Prince Course

Few courses anywhere announce themselves as dramatically as this one. Perched on the North Shore of Kauai, the Prince Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1990, and it has built a reputation as one of Hawaii's most challenging and visually staggering layouts. It has consistently ranked among the top resort courses in the United States, and for good reason — the routing tumbles through deep ravines, crosses streams, and moves across jungle-fringed terrain that feels genuinely wild rather than manicured into submission.

Jones routed the course so that players move through the land rather than over it, which means elevation changes are constant and the jungle presses close on nearly every hole. Ocean glimpses appear throughout, but the course doesn't rely on them — the terrain alone provides enough drama.

Princeville sits on Kauai's North Shore, where rainfall is generous and the vegetation lush and intensely green. The region is remote by Hawaiian standards, which gives the Prince Course an away-from-it-all quality that pure resort polish rarely achieves.
