De Leemput

De Leemput sits in the sandy Brabant heathlands south of the Biesbosch wetlands, in a part of the Netherlands where the gently undulating terrain and pine-and-heather landscape gave early golf architects something genuinely interesting to work with. The course takes its name from the old peat-cutting tradition of this region — "leemput" refers to clay or loam pits — and the land carries that history in its texture and topography. It is one of a cluster of clubs in North Brabant that benefit from the relatively drier, sandier soils of the Kempen region, which drain quickly and tend to keep conditions playable well into autumn.

The club itself has a well-established members' culture, the kind of place where regular competitions and social golf coexist comfortably. The layout moves through stands of pine and open heathland sections, giving it a character closer to the inland heathland courses of Belgium than the polder-flat layouts more commonly associated with Dutch golf.
