Jackson Golf Club sits in the heart of Jackson, a small city in southwestern Minnesota near the Iowa border, where the land flattens into wide-open prairie and the sky feels enormous overhead. This corner of the state doesn't draw the golf crowds that the Twin Cities or lake-country resorts do, which tends to produce exactly the kind of relaxed, unpretentious club culture where regulars know each other by name and a tee time rarely requires much advance planning.
A par 74 is a telling detail — not the standard 72 you'd expect, but a layout that leans into a couple of extra par 5s or par 3s, giving the course its own rhythm and rewarding players who manage the longer holes well. Courses like this one, built to serve a working agricultural community, typically reflect the terrain honestly: open fairways, minimal artifice, and conditions shaped more by the seasons than by a design philosophy.
Southwestern Minnesota winters are long and the golf season genuinely earned, which gives even a quiet municipal round here a certain local weight.
