Kangaroo Valley sits about 150 kilometres south of Sydney, tucked into a sandstone escarpment where the Illawarra Range drops sharply toward the Shoalhaven River valley. It's one of the most dramatically beautiful pockets of New South Wales — dense subtropical rainforest, cedar and turpentine trees, rolling dairy pasture, and a mist that lingers in the folds of the hills well into the morning. Playing golf here means playing golf inside a landscape that most visitors come simply to photograph.
The Country Club serves the resort trade that Kangaroo Valley draws from Sydney and the Southern Highlands, offering a full 18-hole layout in a setting where the scenery does most of the heavy lifting. A par-71 configuration typically signals some variety in hole length and character, and in terrain this broken and forested, you'd expect elevation change and tight corridors to keep things honest regardless of how far you hit it.
This is destination golf in the truest sense — less about benchmarking your game against a famous design and more about spending a round somewhere genuinely beautiful, a long way from the city in every way that matters.
