Wembley sits in the Peace River Country of northwestern Alberta, a region more associated with grain farming and boreal forest than fairways and greens — which makes the presence of a full 18-hole club here something worth noting. The Peace Country has a dedicated, self-sufficient golf culture; courses out here don't survive on destination traffic, they survive because the local community genuinely loves the game.
Pipestone Golf Club takes its name from the Pipestone Creek watershed that defines much of this corner of Alberta, a landscape of rolling prairie edges giving way to river breaks and tree lines that tend to make for natural, terrain-driven routing. A par-71 layout suggests at least one fewer par 5 than a conventional course, often a design choice that tightens the strategic demands and puts a premium on precise iron play rather than raw power.
This is the kind of club where the membership knows every bounce and every prevailing wind, and a visitor who takes the course lightly tends to find the scorecard a humbling souvenir.
