Cornwall's far west has always felt like a world apart, and Tehidy Park reflects that sense of separateness. The course occupies land within the former estate of the Basset family, one of Cornwall's great mining dynasties, whose wealth was built on the tin and copper veins running beneath this very ground. That industrial heritage gives way to something altogether gentler now — mature woodland, rolling parkland, and the kind of unhurried atmosphere that defines private members' golf in the English counties.
The setting inside Tehidy Country Park provides genuine shelter from the Atlantic weather that batters the nearby north Cornish coast, meaning the trees do real work here beyond mere scenery. Conditions tend to be softer and more forgiving than the exposed links at Perranporth or St Enodoc a little further along the coast, though the parkland layout has its own quiet demands.
For visiting golfers, Tehidy offers a grounded, local experience rather than a destination showcase — the kind of club where the character of the place matters more than the marketing.
