The Villages is one of the most remarkable retirement communities in the world — a self-contained city of some 130,000 residents spread across central Florida, built in large part around golf. The community operates dozens of courses across its sprawling footprint, ranging from championship layouts to executive tracks, and golf here functions less like a leisure activity than a civic institution. Residents can play year-round under the Florida sun, on courses that wind through the community's neighborhoods, town squares, and subtropical landscaping.
Tierra Del Sol is one of the championship-level courses within this ecosystem, playing to a par of 72 across 18 holes. Like the other full-length courses in The Villages portfolio, it exists primarily to serve the community's residents, who enjoy heavily subsidized access as part of life here — a model that makes serious golf genuinely accessible on a daily basis.
Central Florida's terrain is flat but not featureless, and the region's warm, humid climate keeps fairways green through the winter months when northern golfers are watching snow. Expect water, plenty of it — Florida course design leans hard on lakes and wetlands for both beauty and strategy.
