Blythefield Country Club carries one of the most distinguished résumés in Michigan golf. The course served as host of the LPGA Tour's Buick Open — later known as the Kalamazoo Klassik and various other iterations — drawing the best players in women's professional golf to the Grand Rapids suburbs for decades. That history alone sets Blythefield apart from the crowded field of private clubs in the region, and the membership has long taken pride in a layout that could stand up to tour-level scrutiny.
The course sits in Belmont, just north of Grand Rapids in Kent County, where the terrain is shaped by glacial activity that left behind rolling topography, mature hardwoods, and the kind of natural contour that architects of an earlier era knew how to use. Blythefield's design leans into that landscape, rewarding players who manage their angles and respect the ground game rather than simply overpowering holes.
As a private members' club, Blythefield maintains a traditional atmosphere — well-conditioned, unhurried, and rooted in the rhythms of a serious golfing community that has had a long time to get things right.
