Hermon Meadow has been a cornerstone of golf in the Bangor area for decades, offering central Maine golfers a genuinely comfortable home course rather than a destination trophy. The layout rolls across open meadow terrain — which the name makes no secret of — giving the round a relaxed, exposed feel that contrasts with the dense spruce and fir woodlands visible in nearly every direction. It plays as an honest test without pretension, the kind of course where a local handicap gets honestly earned over many seasons of play.
Hermon itself sits just west of Bangor along the Route 2 corridor, making the club easily accessible from the region's largest city. Central Maine's golf season runs roughly May through October, with the most prized windows coming in late summer when the light lingers long and the humidity finally breaks.
As a community-rooted 18-hole layout, Hermon Meadow fills a role that matters: a place where the game is approachable, rounds move at a reasonable pace, and the regulars know each other by name.
