La Envía Golf sits in the sun-baked flatlands south of Vícar, on the coastal plain that stretches between Almería city and the Sierra Nevada foothills — one of the sunniest corners of Europe, where plastic greenhouses blanket much of the landscape and the desert light is relentless and theatrical. The course was built as part of an ambitious resort development, carving irrigated fairways and lakes out of terrain that receives almost no natural rainfall, making water management as central to its design as any bunker placement.
The layout makes deliberate use of water features and elevation changes to add drama to what is otherwise flat ground, and the prevailing winds off the Mediterranean can shift the challenge hole by hole. It plays as a resort-style track — generous enough off the tee to welcome a wide range of handicaps, but with approach angles and pin positions that reward precision.
Almería's golf scene is quieter and less commercialized than the Costa del Sol to the west, which suits players looking for good conditions and uncrowded rounds. Year-round sunshine and mild winters make La Envía a reliable destination when courses further north are closed or sodden.
