Few courses in England command views quite like Sheringham's. Perched high on the north Norfolk clifftops, this is one of the country's great natural settings for golf — the North Sea stretching to the horizon, the coastline curving away in both directions, and the wind doing whatever it pleases. Founded in 1891, the club has a proud history that stretches back to the earliest decades of English golf, and the course retains the character of a proper clifftop links-heathland hybrid, where the turf is firm and fast and the rough means business.
The layout makes exceptional use of the undulating clifftop terrain, demanding imagination and course management rather than raw power. A par of 70 signals this is a thinking person's course — precision over distance, positioning over aggression.
Sheringham sits in one of Norfolk's most appealing small towns, a traditional seaside resort that has kept much of its Victorian charm. The wider north Norfolk coast is a celebrated stretch of England, and the golf here feels entirely of its place.
