Few courses in England ask you to earn your scorecard quite the way Lyme Regis does. Perched on the clifftops above one of Dorset's most celebrated seaside towns, the course occupies dramatically uneven ground that tumbles and rolls with the same restless energy as the coastline below. The views across Lyme Bay and toward the Jurassic Coast — a UNESCO World Heritage site — are among the most arresting you'll find on any golf course in the southwest of England.
The terrain dictates everything here. Fairways pitch at angles that reward local knowledge, and the prevailing sea winds shift the challenge from one round to the next. This is emphatically not a course where length is the primary weapon; positioning and course management tend to separate the scores.
Lyme Regis the town has long attracted artists, writers, and fossil hunters drawn to its dramatic geology and unhurried character. The golf club carries something of that same spirit — a place where the setting is at least as memorable as the round itself.
