湯郷石橋ゴルフ倶楽部 sits in the Mimasaka region of eastern Okayama Prefecture, a part of rural Chugoku that moves at its own pace. The surrounding countryside is defined by forested ridgelines, small river valleys, and the quiet resort town of Yubara — one of Okayama's classic hot-spring destinations. Playing here means spending a day in landscapes that feel genuinely removed from the urban corridors of Osaka or Hiroshima, with the kind of clean mountain air that makes even a difficult round feel restorative.
The club takes its name partly from Yunogo Onsen, the well-known spa district nearby, and the course reflects the terrain of the area — rolling ground shaped by the contours of the Mimasaka hills rather than flattened into submission. That topography rewards players who work the ball and think carefully about angles, as uneven lies and elevation changes are part of the honest challenge on offer.
Mimasaka is also home to Tomato & Onions golf culture — casual but serious, local regulars who treat their home course with real affection. A round here is less about prestige and more about the pleasure of playing thoughtful, site-responsive golf in a part of Japan that most visiting golfers never reach.
