Few places on earth carry the weight of golf history that St. Andrews does, and The Kittocks — part of the Fairmont St. Andrews resort complex perched on the clifftops east of the old grey town — offers a different vantage point on that legacy. Designed by Gene Sarazen and Sam Torrance and opened in 2001, it sits alongside the resort's Torrance Course, with both layouts taking full advantage of the dramatic coastal terrain above the North Sea.
What distinguishes The Kittocks is its sheer sense of exposure. The Fife coastline here is wide open and windswept, and the prevailing sea breezes turn a course that might seem manageable on paper into a genuine examination of shot-making and course management. Par 73 accommodates some longer, more generous holes, and the routing moves through a mix of heathland-influenced ground and clifftop drama.
Staying or playing at Fairmont St. Andrews puts you minutes from the Old Course and the R&A, yet The Kittocks offers a modern resort experience with views that remind you exactly where you are.
