Few resort courses on the Moroccan Atlantic coast arrive with the architectural pedigree that Mazagan carries. Designed by Gary Player, the layout was built to complement the large-scale Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort development near El Jadida — a UNESCO World Heritage city whose Portuguese-era fortifications stand just along the coast. Player shaped the course to take full advantage of the exposed, windswept terrain between the resort and the ocean, and the Atlantic is a near-constant presence, both visually and as a scoring factor. Wind management matters here as much as ball-striking.

The region sits roughly 100 kilometers south of Casablanca, where the coastal plain opens into broad, flat agricultural land before meeting the sea. Morocco's Atlantic seaboard has a mild, year-round climate that suits golf well, and the country has invested seriously in resort golf over the past two decades as part of its national tourism strategy.

Mazagan functions as a full destination resort — golf is one piece of a larger offering that includes a casino, spa, and beachfront access — so the course draws a mix of hotel guests and international visitors rather than a traditional membership.
