Fjällbacka sits on Sweden's Bohuslän coast, one of the most visually dramatic stretches of Scandinavia's western shore — a landscape of glacier-scraped granite skerries, deep-blue inlets, and fishing villages that have barely changed in a century. It is also the hometown of Ingrid Bergman and the setting of Camilla Läckberg's crime novels, making it one of the most visited small towns in Sweden during the summer months. Golf here means playing within reach of that coastal atmosphere, with the raw stone and salt air of the Kattegat never far away.
Norra Backa Golfklubb is a smaller club that reflects the character of Swedish rural golf — community-centered, unpretentious, and genuinely embedded in its local landscape. Courses in this part of Västra Götaland tend to work with the terrain rather than imposing on it, threading through the region's characteristic mix of rock outcroppings, pine, and birch.
For visiting golfers, the draw here is as much about where you are as the round itself. Playing a relaxed game in this corner of the Bohuslän coast, then spending an evening in Fjällbacka's harbor, is a combination that's hard to beat in the Swedish summer.
