La Frénaye sits in the pays de Caux, the broad chalk plateau of Upper Normandy that rolls between Rouen and the Seine estuary. This is agricultural France at its quietest — wide open fields, hedgerow bocage, and the kind of unhurried rural atmosphere that makes a round of golf feel genuinely removed from the working world. Seine-Maritime is not a region traditionally associated with destination golf, but courses here benefit from the natural contours of the plateau and the particular quality of Norman light, which shifts constantly with the Atlantic weather moving in off the Channel.
Golf Évasion de La Frénaye is a compact facility, the word "évasion" — escape — doing real work in its name. Layouts of this type in rural Normandy tend to serve their local community loyally: accessible green fees, a welcoming clubhouse atmosphere, and a course that rewards course management over raw power.
The surrounding countryside is the real backdrop here. Normandy's landscape carries historical weight, and playing golf among its hedgerows and open skies offers a sense of place that more manicured resort destinations rarely match.
