Vicopelago Golf Club sits on the outskirts of Lucca, one of Tuscany's most beautifully preserved Renaissance cities, where the golf unfolds across gently rolling countryside framed by umbrella pines, olive groves, and the hills that define this corner of northern Tuscany. The course takes its name from the small frazione of Vicopelago, just south of the city walls, and the setting carries that particular quality of cultivated Italian landscape — ordered, serene, and quietly dramatic when the light falls right.
The layout plays through terrain typical of the Lucchese plain, where the flatness of the valley floor gives way to softer undulations, and mature trees define many of the corridors. It is a course where positioning and course management reward more than raw power, and the pace of play tends to reflect the unhurried rhythms of the surrounding countryside.
Lucca itself is reason enough to make the trip — the intact medieval walls, the tower houses, the food culture of a city that takes its traditions seriously. For visiting golfers, Vicopelago offers a genuinely Italian round, unhurried and deeply embedded in its landscape.
