Denver's southwestern suburbs don't typically announce themselves as golf destinations, but Raccoon Creek has built a quiet reputation as one of the better public options along the Front Range. The course sits in Littleton, a city that edges up against the Rocky Mountain foothills, and the layout makes good use of its setting — mature cottonwoods line many of the fairways, and on a clear day the mountain views to the west are a genuine distraction.
As a public facility serving a metro area with serious golf appetite, Raccoon Creek draws a broad cross-section of players — weekend regulars, league groups, and the occasional visitor looking for accessible Front Range golf that doesn't require a resort budget. The course plays to a full par 72 and is long enough to reward proper shot-making without punishing the average golfer into misery.
Colorado's high-altitude conditions mean the ball travels farther than most out-of-state visitors expect, which tends to produce better numbers and bigger grins. Afternoon wind off the mountains is a consistent variable worth factoring in before you pull club.
