Harrison County sits in the rolling hill country of southern Indiana, where the landscape tumbles and folds in ways that feel more Appalachian than Midwestern. Chariot Run occupies this terrain with genuine ambition — the course plays through dramatic elevation changes and wooded ridgelines that would feel at home in Kentucky, which lies just a few miles to the south. It's the kind of land that makes golf architects reach for something more than a flat, repetitive layout.
Laconia itself is a small community, and Chariot Run carries the character of a destination rather than a neighborhood track — a place worth driving to rather than simply convenient to. Southern Indiana has historically been underserved by standout public golf, which makes a course of this scale and setting something of a regional draw for players coming up from Louisville or across from Elizabethtown.
At par 72 over 18 holes, the layout has room to use every slope and hollow the property offers. Rounds here tend to reward patience and local knowledge — first-timers often underestimate just how much the terrain dictates shot shape and club selection.
