Few courses along Florida's Panhandle carry the reputation of Camp Creek. Designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2000 as part of the Watersound development along Scenic Highway 30A, it quickly earned recognition among the elite golf experiences in the American South. Golf Digest has ranked it among the best courses in Florida, and its blend of inland dunes, scrubby longleaf pine, and native wiregrass gives it a character closer to the Sandhills of the Carolinas than the manicured Florida stereotype most golfers expect.
The terrain here is unusually dramatic for the Gulf Coast — Fazio worked with natural sand ridges and elevation changes that are genuinely rare in this part of the state. The result is a layout that rewards strategic thinking and shot-shaping rather than pure length, with wide, rumpled fairways that funnel balls in unexpected directions.
Watersound sits within the 30A corridor, one of the more refined stretches of the Florida Panhandle, known for its low-density development, coastal dune lakes, and unhurried atmosphere. Camp Creek feels entirely at home here — a serious golf course in an area that quietly takes its pleasures seriously.
