Riocerezo

Golf arrived in the province of Burgos by way of a working agricultural estate, and Riocerezo reflects that rural Castilian character honestly. The course occupies the valley of the Arlanzón river basin in the village of Hurones, just a short drive west of the city of Burgos itself, where the landscape is defined by cereal crops, rolling plateau, and the wide skies of the Spanish meseta. It plays as a private members' facility serving the local Burgos golf community, and the setting gives it a quiet, unhurried feel that is rare even in rural Spain.

Burgos sits at roughly 860 metres above sea level, which means the air is thin and the ball carries further than golfers accustomed to sea-level play might expect. Winters here are genuinely cold and the season can be short, which tends to concentrate the membership's enthusiasm into the warmer months with considerable passion.

The surrounding countryside — oak scrub, agricultural fields, and the distant silhouette of the Castilian highlands — frames the layout and gives rounds here a strong sense of place that no amount of manufactured landscaping could replicate.
