Dundarave Golf Course

Few courses in Atlantic Canada announce themselves quite like Dundarave. Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry and opened in 1999, it sits within the Brudenell River Resort complex on PEI's eastern shore — a property that also includes the older Brudenell River course — and it has earned a reputation as one of the finest resort layouts in the Maritimes. The routing moves through mature forest and along wetland edges, with the red soil and Gulf Stream-tempered summers that define Prince Edward Island golf giving the course a look and feel you won't find elsewhere in Canada.

Hurdzan and Fry brought a naturalistic design philosophy to the site, keeping the land's character intact while threading fairways through stands of spruce and hardwood. The course rewards strategic thinking over raw power — lines off the tee matter, and the greens have enough movement to keep approach play honest throughout the round.

Cardigan sits in Kings County, PEI's quietest and most rural corner, and the surrounding landscape feels genuinely removed from anywhere. The island's short but intense golf season, roughly May through October, means Dundarave tends to be in excellent condition when it's open, and the combination of resort amenities and serious course quality makes it a legitimate destination for golfers making the trip to Atlantic Canada.
