Barsebäcks G&CC

Few courses in Scandinavia carry the international pedigree of Barsebäck Golf & Country Club. Situated on the southwestern tip of Sweden's Skåne province, just north of Malmö along the Öresund coast, the club hosts 2 championship layouts — the Masters Course and the Ladies Course — both threading through the coastal heathland that defines this corner of the country. Barsebäck became Sweden's most prominent tournament venue through its long association with the Solheim Cup, hosting the matches in 2000 and again in 2003, and the course has repeatedly tested the best women's professionals in the world at the highest level.

The setting does much of the work. Flat by Scandinavian standards but relentlessly exposed to North Sea winds off the Öresund Strait, Barsebäck plays very differently on a calm morning than on a blustery afternoon — yardage becomes almost irrelevant when the wind arrives. Links-influenced turf and open sightlines give the place a character closer to the British coast than to the Swedish interior.

Skåne itself is Sweden's southernmost county and its most densely golfed region, with a mild climate, agricultural plains, and a golf culture that punches well above the province's size. Barsebäck sits at the top of that regional hierarchy — a genuine destination layout that rewards course management and local knowledge in equal measure.
