Baudette sits at the northern edge of Minnesota, right on the Rainy River that divides the U.S. from Canada — about as far north as you can get in the lower 48 and still find an 18-hole golf course. The town is best known as the walleye capital of the world, drawing anglers to Lake of the Woods more than it draws golfers, which gives Oak Harbor a genuinely local, unhurried character that resort courses rarely manage to replicate.
Northern Minnesota golf carries its own rhythm: a short season that makes every round feel earned, boreal surroundings, and the kind of flat-to-gently-rolling lake country terrain common to this corner of the state. Expect spruce and pine lining the layout, with the cool, clean air that comes standard this close to the Canadian border.
For a community of Baudette's size, having a full par-72 layout available at all is a point of local pride. This is the sort of course where regulars know each other by name, pace of play is rarely a problem, and the appeal is straightforward: good golf in a remarkably remote and scenic piece of the Upper Midwest.
