Robertsfors Golfklubb sits in the heart of Västerbotten, the vast mid-northern Swedish county where the land rolls between dense boreal forest and the rivers that drain westward from the mountains toward the Gulf of Bothnia. Robertsfors itself is a small ironworks town — its identity shaped for centuries by the Robertsfors Bruk, the historic estate and ironworks complex that still anchors the community. That heritage of working landscape gives the area a quiet, unhurried character that carries over into the local golf culture.
Golf in this part of Sweden means long summer days with light that simply refuses to disappear — rounds played at 9 or 10 in the evening under a sky that never quite darkens are entirely normal through June and July. The course operates in that distinctly northern Scandinavian rhythm, with a short but intensely green season when the fairways come alive against a backdrop of spruce and birch.
Västerbotten is not a high-profile tournament destination, but clubs like Robertsfors represent the democratic, member-driven Swedish golf tradition at its most genuine — accessible, well-maintained, and rooted in community rather than prestige.
