真駒内カントリークラブ

真駒内カントリークラブ occupies a wooded corner of southern Sapporo, drawing its character from the same forested hills that surround the Makomanai area — a district still associated with the 1972 Winter Olympics, whose speed-skating oval once stood nearby. The course plays through a mature canopy of Japanese white birch and spruce, the kind of terrain that makes Hokkaido's golf feel genuinely different from the manicured parkland found on Honshu. Fairways tend to be firm and fast in summer, riding the well-drained volcanic soil that defines much of the island's upland topography.

Hokkaido's short season — typically May through October or early November — gives the course a concentrated intensity. Members squeeze a full year's golf into roughly half a calendar, and the autumn stretch in particular is stunning, with the birch canopy turning gold against the evergreens before the first snow arrives.

As a private members' club, 真駒内 carries the understated formality typical of established Japanese golf: deliberate pace, meticulous conditioning, and a clubhouse culture where the 19th hole is as carefully considered as the first tee.
