Santibáñez el Alto sits in the far north of Extremadura, close to the Portuguese border and the Embalse de Borbollón reservoir — a landscape of granite outcroppings, cork oak dehesa, and the wide skies that define this quietly dramatic corner of Spain. It's ranching and farming country, remote by Iberian standards, where golf courses are a rarity and the ones that do exist tend to feel genuinely rooted in their surroundings rather than imposed upon them.
Parraluz Golf operates in that spirit. Without pretending to the resort polish of courses further south toward Mérida or east toward Madrid, it offers something arguably more honest: golf played against an authentic Extremaduran backdrop, where the natural terrain and local vegetation do most of the heavy lifting in defining the layout's character. Expect a course shaped by the land rather than engineered over it.
Extremadura rewards the traveler willing to leave the obvious circuits behind, and the same logic applies to its golf. Parraluz serves a regional community and the occasional visitor curious enough to explore beyond the well-worn routes — the kind of course that earns its appeal through setting and sincerity rather than spectacle.
