伊東カントリークラブ occupies the hilly terrain of the Izu Peninsula's eastern coast, where the volcanic landscape that defines this corner of Shizuoka Prefecture shapes every routing decision. The course works through the wooded ridgelines above Ito City, a resort town long favored by Tokyoites seeking the mild Izu climate and the region's celebrated hot springs. That geography means significant elevation change, tight tree-lined fairways, and the kind of dramatic up-and-downhill shots that reward course management over raw power.
Ito itself sits roughly 2 hours from central Tokyo, and the Izu Peninsula's golf scene reflects that proximity — dozens of courses compete here for weekend escape traffic, and the standard of presentation is generally high. The Sagami Bay coastline is visible from portions of the higher holes, giving the mountain round an unexpected maritime edge on clear days.
As a members' club rooted in the leisure culture of the Izu resort corridor, the atmosphere leans toward the traditional, unhurried side of Japanese club golf — meticulous conditioning, formal caddie service at many tee times, and the quiet seriousness that distinguishes a round here from a purely recreational outing.
