Candle Lake Golf Resort sits on the shores of one of Saskatchewan's most popular recreational lakes, about 2 hours northeast of Prince Albert in the province's vast boreal forest zone. This is cottage country for much of central Saskatchewan — a place where families return summer after summer, and the golf course is as much a part of the seasonal rhythm as fishing and campfires. The surrounding landscape is defined by spruce and poplar, sandy soils, and the kind of big prairie sky that makes even a wayward shot feel forgivable.
As a resort layout serving a leisure-driven community, the course is built for enjoyment rather than examination — a place where a mixed group can get around without the round becoming a grind. The par of 73 suggests at least one extra par 5 worked into the routing, giving longer hitters a chance to flex while keeping the card friendly for everyone else.
For visitors staying at the lake, this is the kind of golf that earns its place in a good weekend: unhurried, unpretentious, and set against scenery that no scorecard statistic can capture.
