One of southwestern Ontario's longer-standing private clubs, Sarnia Golf and Curling Club carries the dual identity common to this part of Canada — where golf and curling have historically shared not just a clubhouse but a genuine community bond. Situated in Sarnia at the southern tip of Lake Huron, where the St. Clair River begins its run toward Lake Erie, the club reflects the character of a mid-sized industrial city that has always maintained a serious recreational life alongside its petrochemical economy.
The course plays as a par 72 on relatively flat Great Lakes terrain, the kind of landscape that rewards architects who work with mature tree lines, strategic bunkering, and subtly contoured greens rather than dramatic elevation. Conditions here are shaped by proximity to the lake — morning humidity, afternoon lake breezes, and a season that runs from spring thaw through a crisp Ontario autumn.
As a private members' club, the atmosphere tends toward the traditional: established routines, competitive member events, and the kind of institutional continuity that builds real course knowledge across generations of local golfers.
