Few Orlando courses can claim the ecological distinction that defines Shingle Creek's identity. The course is built along the headwaters of Shingle Creek, one of the tributaries that ultimately feeds into the Everglades watershed — a legitimately rare piece of Florida's natural hydrological story running right through the property. That heritage shapes the layout in meaningful ways, with wetlands, mature cypress stands, and native habitat corridors weaving through the routing rather than serving as mere decoration.
Designed by David Harman and opened in 2003, Shingle Creek sits within the resort corridor of the International Drive area, adjacent to what is now the Caribe Royale complex. It plays as a genuine resort destination course — spacious, well-conditioned, and built to handle high volumes of visiting golfers without losing its sense of place. The scale and openness typical of Florida resort design is here, but the creek and its surrounding wetland system give the course a character that outlasts any single round.
Orlando's year-round warmth means Shingle Creek sees play in every season, though summer afternoons bring the region's reliable afternoon thunderstorms — a scheduling reality any visitor should plan around.
