Fairview sits in Sanpete County, tucked into the Wasatch Plateau at elevations that push well above 6,000 feet — terrain that makes Utah's high-country golf a genuinely different experience from the desert layouts the state is better known for. Up here, the air is thin, drives carry farther than golfers expect, and the season runs shorter than courses at lower altitudes. The surrounding landscape is mountain meadow and conifer forest, with the kind of panoramic ridge views that make a slow round feel less like a problem.
Resort courses at this elevation tend to lean into the scenery, routing holes along natural contours where the topography does most of the design work. Par 72 layouts in mountain settings typically reward course management over raw distance — short irons into uphill greens play differently than the yardage suggests, and reading elevation changes becomes as important as reading putts.
