Furry Creek Golf and Country Club

Few golf courses in Canada demand as much from the landscape — and give back as much in return. Furry Creek Golf and Country Club occupies a dramatic site on the Sea-to-Sky corridor between Vancouver and Whistler, carved into the steep coastal mountains above Howe Sound. The course, designed by Robert Muir Graves and opened in 1993, routes holes across serious elevation changes, with several tees and greens suspended hundreds of feet above the fjord. The views are genuinely distracting in the best possible way — snow-capped peaks, ferries crossing the inlet below, eagles overhead.

The design plays to the terrain rather than fighting it. Blind shots, severe uphill and downhill lies, and the constant presence of the mountainside make this a course that rewards local knowledge and punishes careless club selection. It is not long by modern standards, but the combination of altitude, slope, and the unpredictable coastal wind off Howe Sound keeps scoring honest.
