Panshanger Golf Complex sits on the eastern edge of Welwyn Garden City, occupying part of the Panshanger estate — a landscape with deep historical roots, once the parkland seat of the Cowper and Desborough families and shaped over centuries before golf arrived. The course plays across gently rolling Hertfordshire countryside, and the wider Panshanger Park, managed as a nature reserve, gives the surroundings a genuine openness that many courses in the Home Counties can't match. Welwyn Garden City is one of Britain's original planned towns, and Panshanger has long served as a workhorse public facility for a densely populated corner of Hertfordshire — the kind of course that introduces the game to beginners and keeps club golfers ticking over through the seasons. It isn't a destination layout, but it fills an important role in the local golf ecosystem.
