Murrells Inlet sits just south of Myrtle Beach along South Carolina's Grand Strand, one of the most golf-saturated stretches of coastline in the country. With well over 100 courses packed into the region, competition for a player's attention is fierce — which has historically pushed courses here to offer solid conditions and fair value to stand out. Indigo Creek Golf Club is a public-access layout that draws both the resort crowd filtering down from Myrtle Beach and the Pawleys Island regulars who know the area's quieter, more residential south end.
The Grand Strand's inland courses — as opposed to its oceanfront properties — tend to play through the lowcountry's native landscape: stands of longleaf pine and hardwood, Carolina wetlands, and the kind of flat but feature-rich terrain that rewards course management over raw power. Water, waste areas, and strategic bunkering typically do the work that elevation change cannot.
For visiting golfers, Murrells Inlet offers a noticeably slower pace than the Myrtle Beach resort corridor, and the surrounding area is as well known for its seafood and marshside dining as it is for its golf. Indigo Creek fits comfortably into a multi-course Grand Strand itinerary.
