Lake Buena Vista

Few American golf destinations carry quite the same pop-cultural gravity as Walt Disney World's golf operation, and the Lake Buena Vista course — one of the original layouts developed when Disney transformed central Florida's swampland into a global resort in the early 1970s — sits squarely within that legacy. Joe Lee designed the course, threading fairways through a residential resort community where homes and villas line much of the property. It's a layout where water appears constantly, as you'd expect from terrain that was essentially reclaimed wetland, demanding accurate iron play and patient course management over raw power.

Central Florida golf is warm-season bermudagrass country, playable year-round under a subtropical sun, though summer afternoons bring the near-daily thunderstorms that define the region's rhythm. The humidity is real, the flat terrain is real, and the alligators along the water hazards are very real.

Disney's golf properties have hosted PGA Tour and LPGA events over the decades, lending the broader complex a tournament pedigree that elevates Lake Buena Vista beyond a typical resort round.
