Few stretches of American coastline produce golf quite like the Grand Strand, and Tidewater Golf Club stands among the most celebrated courses in the entire Myrtle Beach corridor. Designed by Ken Tomlinson and opened in 1990, it earned immediate attention for its dramatic routing along the Intracoastal Waterway and Cherry Grove inlet — a layout where saltwater marshes, maritime forest, and open Atlantic views compete for your attention on nearly every hole. Golf Digest has repeatedly placed it among the top public courses in South Carolina, and it consistently ranks as one of the finest resort tracks along the entire Grand Strand.
The design demands genuine shotmaking rather than raw power. Tomlinson threaded the course through natural tidal terrain, so errant shots find marshland rather than rough, and the wind off the water shifts the challenge from round to round. The back nine in particular opens up to sweeping coastal views that are genuinely rare for a resort course.
North Myrtle Beach sits slightly removed from the commercial bustle of the main Myrtle Beach strip, giving Tidewater a quieter, more refined atmosphere. For visiting golfers working through the region's famous menu of courses, it regularly earns a place near the top of the itinerary.
