Few clubs on the island of Ireland carry quite the sense of accumulated history that Monkstown Golf Club does. Founded in 1908, the club sits in the affluent coastal suburb of Monkstown on the southern shore of Dublin Bay, in County Cork — a part of Ireland where the game took root early and ran deep. The layout occupies undulating parkland terrain characteristic of this stretch of the south Cork coastline, where the land rolls and tilts in ways that reward course designers and punish lazy approach play in equal measure.
At par 70, Monkstown plays shorter than many of its regional rivals, but the course earns its challenge through topography and tight, tree-lined corridors rather than raw length.
