Pete Dye designed this private club, which opened in 1999 as the centerpiece of a planned residential community in northeast Naples. True to Dye's signature style, the course leans heavily on railroad ties, pot bunkers, forced carries over water, and greens that reward precise approach angles over raw distance. The layout moves through a mix of preserve areas and wetlands, giving it a wilder, more naturalistic feel than many of the manicured resort courses that dominate the Naples corridor.
Northeast Naples sits at the edge of the Big Cypress watershed, and that geography shows up in the course's character — water comes into play on a significant number of holes, and the native vegetation pressing in from the margins keeps the round feeling like it belongs to the land rather than imposed upon it. For a Dye design, there is genuine variety in the shaping, and the greens complexes reward players who study the angles.
Olde Cypress occupies a quieter corner of one of Florida's most golf-saturated markets. Naples supports courses across every category, from world-ranked resort destinations to workaday publics, and a private Dye layout holds a respected place in that competitive company.
