Chudenín u Nýrska sits in the Šumava region of southwestern Bohemia, where the rolling forested hills of what Czechs call the Bohemian Forest press up against the German border. This is one of the quieter, less-touristed corners of the Czech Republic — a landscape of spruce woodland, glacial lakes, and open meadows that defined the old Sudetenland before the postwar transformations remade its demographics entirely. The golf club takes its name directly from Šumava, the Czech name for this highland wilderness, and the setting alone gives the place a character that larger, more polished venues rarely achieve.
The 3-hole layout is a modest facility by any measure, the kind of introductory or supplementary course that serves a local community or small resort rather than destination golfers chasing rankings. These compact layouts work best as learning grounds, warm-up loops, or simply an excuse to spend time outdoors in a beautiful setting without committing to a full round.
Expect a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. The Šumava countryside is popular with hikers and cyclists, and golf here feels continuous with that slower, nature-first culture rather than separate from it.
