Kartanogolf sits on the estate grounds of Joroinen, a small rural municipality in the South Savo region of eastern Finland — lake country in the truest sense, where the Finnish landscape of birch forests, wetlands, and glittering water surfaces defines everything around you. The course takes its name from "kartano," the Finnish word for manor or estate, and that setting gives it a distinctly unhurried, pastoral character that separates it from urban layouts.
South Savo is one of Finland's most golf-friendly regions by sheer density of courses relative to population, and the local golf culture reflects the Finnish relationship with the outdoors — seasonal, serious about the game, and deeply tied to the natural environment. Playing here in the long light of a Finnish summer evening, with the sun barely dipping below the tree line, is an experience no scorecard communicates.
As an estate course in a quiet inland municipality, Kartanogolf draws primarily a local and regional membership, offering a relaxed round in surroundings that feel genuinely removed from the everyday.
