Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri

Few stretches of Spanish coastline have attracted as much architectural ambition as the Costa de la Luz south of Cádiz, and Novo Sancti Petri stands as one of its most significant statements. The complex was designed by Severiano Ballesteros, the Cantabrian legend who brought the same strategic imagination to course design that defined his playing career. Opened in the early 1990s as part of a broader resort development on the Sancti Petri channel, the facility ultimately grew into a 45-hole property — 3 loops of 18 sharing 27 routing combinations — giving it a scale unusual even by Andalusian resort standards.

Ballesteros built the courses to reward creative shot-making over brute force, a philosophy that ran through everything he did. The terrain is relatively flat Atlantic linksland, backed by umbrella pines and fronted by sea breezes that shift throughout the day and make club selection a genuine puzzle. The wind off the Strait of Gibraltar corridor is the silent architect here.

Chiclana de la Frontera sits between Cádiz and Conil, a working Andalusian town rather than a polished resort village, which gives the club a grounded, unhurried character. The surrounding Barrosa beach and the nearby wetlands of the Parque Natural de la Bahía de Cádiz add a sense of wild, open landscape that few resort courses anywhere in Europe can match.
