Few golf clubs in the New York metropolitan area carry as much visibility — or as complicated a backstory — as Trump National Westchester. The course occupies the former Briar Hall Country Club site in Briarcliff Manor, a wealthy enclave in the Hudson Valley's Westchester County, and was substantially redesigned after Donald Trump acquired the property in the late 1990s. The renovation was ambitious in scale, regrading fairways and rebuilding the course largely from scratch to create a layout with manicured, resort-style conditioning and dramatic elevation changes across its rolling terrain.
The course sits in classic Westchester County golf country — hardwood forests, rocky outcroppings, and terrain shaped by glacial activity, the same landscape that gave the region some of the Northeast's most storied clubs. Briarcliff Manor itself sits along the Hudson River corridor, about 30 miles north of Manhattan, where autumn color transforms rounds into something genuinely scenic.
Trump National Westchester operates as a private club, with the finish around the clubhouse drawing particular attention — the grounds and facilities are maintained at a high-end, trophy-property standard that reflects its owner's well-known approach to branding.
