Kaohsiung sits at Taiwan's southern tip, where the climate runs warm and humid through much of the year and golf is genuinely a year-round pursuit. The city is Taiwan's second-largest and its industrial and maritime heart, but it has a growing recreational culture, and driving ranges and practice facilities are woven into everyday life here in a way that reflects how seriously Taiwanese golfers take the game's fundamentals.
圓山高爾夫球練習場 — Yuanshan Golf Practice Center — is a practice facility rather than a full course, and that distinction matters. Places like this are where Kaohsiung's golfers actually spend most of their time: working through iron sets on multi-tiered bays, dialing in distances, and keeping their swings sharp between weekend rounds at the full-length courses further out in the hills and countryside of southern Taiwan.
For visiting golfers, a session here is a sensible way to shake off travel fatigue, adjust to the humidity, and get a feel for how the ball flies in Kaohsiung's dense air before heading out to tackle a proper layout.
